Problem connecting to a WPA-PSK network
Hi, I'm trying to connect to a wireless network that uses a WPA-PSK encryption under Windows 7 (new laptop, fresh installation). The network is detected under it's correct SSID, but upon asking for the password, I receive a message that the password is incorrect (and I know it IS correct, being able to connect to it from another computer with latest Win XP without any trouble. I tested a connection to other non-secured, WEP-secured and WPA2-secured networks, and all of them worked fine, so it is not a HW error. Laptop type: Compaq Presario CQ61 WiFi Adapter: Atheros AR9285 Router: unknown, and I can't alter it's settings (it's a network of my favourite pub :) ). Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Zicher

This is not a Windows 7 problem. All the settings must match for a connection to include the encryption type. You will have to ask someone knowledgeable at the pub to ensure you have all the correct settings.

Hi, It can be a hardware firmware problem. Please first update Network adaptor driver to latest version. Please also refer to the following thread: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itpronetworking/thread/2129f98c-5b63-4057-b1bd-9ede40d1ce5f If the issue persists, you may need to the pub network administrator to update the router firmeware.Vivian Xing - MSFT
