Problem connecting Win 7 client to Win 2000 server
I'm trying to connect a Win 7 Pro laptop to an existing domain hosted by a Win 2000 server. I (apparently successfully) added the laptop user's logon name to the directory. When I tried to add her computer to the domain, I did not see anyplace where the domain name is entered. As a result, the properties of this laptop show a grayed-out domain name. What do I have to do to get the domain name to show? I did all this using an account with admin privileges. Right now, the PC and the server can't see each other. Any help would be welcome.

Hi, This issue can occur by incorrect permission or settings. I suggest you perform the following steps. 1. Type the "Sysdm.cpl" in Start menu, right click it and click "Run as Administrator". Click Yes. Then, please check whether the Properties can be modified. 2. Assure the following services are started: Computer Browser, Server, Workstation 3. Create a new admin user account on the local machine. Then, please restart the machine and logon to the local machine with the new local admin account. What's the result? Thanks, Novak
