Problem accessing shared folders on windows 7 32bit computer through VPN appliance.
I have three computers behind a sonic wall VPN appliance. I can access the two windows XP machines no problem. I also have a NAS drive which I can access too. I can access the file shares on the windows 7 computer while in the office but not through the VPN. I can run remote desktop on the windows 7 using the VPN connection. In fact I am typing this question on the Windows 7 computer using remote desktop. I have tried turning off the firewall. I have tried sharing the folder with everyone. I made an access rule that allowed access from any IP address. The remote computer is running windows 7 using a user name and password that is the same on the windows 7 computer that is sharing the files. The computer sharing files has a static ip of 192.168.1.253 the VPN appliance hands out ip address in the range of 192.168.1.200 - 192.168.1.250. I can search for the computer through the vpn and I can find it but when I double click on it I get the typical "\\192.168.1.253 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use the network resource. The specified server cannot perform the requested operation. Thank you for any help you can give me. > > > > UPDATE: I have resolved this problem. I can access and map the shares now.
