Is your Windows 7 machine in the homegroup?

No it is not, this is a domain, not a homegroup, I haven`t test it Windows 7 in a homegroup since all the machines are joined to the openSUSE PDC.Is homegroup aplicable to domain controllers too?

Can you also disable the following policy settings?Start gpedit.msc and browse to Computer Configuration | Windows Settings | Security Settings | Local Policies | Security OptionsNow disable:- Domain member: Digitally encrypt or ssign secure channel data (always)- Domain Member: Require strong (Windows 2000 or later) session keyRay

HomeGroup is not the same as a domain, it is a sharing setting, it looks for other Windows 7 machines. If you are in HomeGroup (just click start then type homegroup and click homegroup) it will say you are joined to one. Does it say this?

Ok I have tested with opensuse 11.2 RC1 that comes with samba 3.4.1 and Windows 7 RTM Ultimate and only the following changes were necesary in the registry. HKLM\System\CCS\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters DWORD DomainCompatibilityMode = 1 DWORD DNSNameResolutionRequired = 0 But I still get a DNS changing name error when joining the PC, but after a reboot, it logins without problems and the access to the shares works fine. this is the complete error Changin the primary domain DNS name of this computer to "" failed. The name will remain "TEST01". The error was: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. there is also an annoying warning logo in the connection tray icon, even when it has recieved its IP address from a DHCP server and is working just fine.

Thanks. Now is irrelevant, but the right entry is RequireSignOrSeal instead of RequireSignOnSeal
