Problem Connecting to shared drives
I have a strange problem that effects some of the drives that I am sharing and doesn't effect others
I have one pc using vista 64 and one using win7 64 both home premium
I can see both pc's from each other in the network folder however when I click on a shared folder
In vista I get a message that "Windows cannot access \\Win7-PC\FOLDER NAME
Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with
your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click diagnose"
When I click diagnose I get the message
"FOLDER NAME" is available but the user account that you are logged on with was denied access
In Win 7 I get a message that "Windows cannot access \\Win7-PC\FOLDER NAME
You do not have permission to access\\Vista-PC\FOLDER NAME.
Contact your network administrator to request access
I am a member of the administrators group on both pc's and I have changed the security settings on the shared folders so full access is granted to all groups even to the users group
The weird thing is that I CAN access 8 other drives connected to the Vista Computer of the exact same size and model as the drives I cannot access. I have tried using the ports that the drives that I can access are using but the problematic drives are still
inaccessible. There are 7 drives that I cannot access.
I have only 4 drives that I am trying to share from the Windows 7 Computer of which I can access two out of four. The weird thing there is that one of the drives I can access is a partition on the same drive as another partition I cannot access.
I am in desperate need of one of you Microsoft geniuses' expertise in solving this weirdly inconsistent problem.
