Probably not a security issue.... Explorer randomly throws up a 'cannot access specified device, file or path'
I have an issue on two W7 Ultimate x64 editions where from time to time for a period of about 20-30 minutes, I cannot access Explorer, Libraries nor Outlook (Office 2007). It comes up with an error dialog box for that process saying it cannot access the specified device, file or path. What's extremely weird is that after that 20-30 minutes, I can access everything again. Any ideas on trying to stop this from happening? Clearly not a file permissions issue as I can access everything some of the time. Am going to disable the Libraries on one of the systems as I'm convinced it's buggy and might be related. Also going to try disabling the McAfee AV in case it's getting in a twist. P.

Hi, This issue can be caused by third party program. As you mentioned, try disabling the McAfee AV first. If the installation file for it is available, you can temporarily remove it. Also try Clean Boot mode. If the issue persists, update your device drivers and BIOS to latest version.Vivian Xing - MSFT

Uninstalling McAfee AV didn't help, issue still occurs. Is there any debug information I can get to understand this problem more?

Have narrowed this down to Windows 7 not liking it when the Home Directory is set to a network drive that suddenly becomes unavailable say due to a network glitch (happens when the Wireless Network drops out). Annoyingly, the errors noted at the top still occur even if Offline Files is enabled on the home drive which indicates to me that Offline Files are not working properly. Seems like functionality around a missing home directory (if it's on a network) is now broken from what it was on XP. At least XP would continue to run and use the local C drive when it couldn't find the home directory.
