Hi, I'm trying to force Windows 7 to use the LAN adaptor when it is connected, but Win 7 always choose wireless if the wireless is connected. I have set the order of adaports in Networking -> Adaptor settings -> ALT -> Advanced .... A netstat -rn reports that the LAN adapter has lowest value. Win 7 still insist on using the wireless, only way to force Win 7 to wired is to disable the wireless adaptor. Have I missed something here? Are there any other setteing that overrides this? Hi, This behavior is by design: a network connection established over one interface will not tear itself down even after a faster network connection has been identified. Network stack on Windows 7 was rewritten and it is different from Windows XP. You will be able to use only one Internet connection at a time, either wired or wireless. And you can disable the wireless connection and reboot the computer to use the wired connection. Thanx for your replies. By using interface metric I have some control over this now. WIN 7 uses the LAN connection even if wireless is connected. It's still issues when going from Lan to Wlan to Lan. I'm using the command: netsh interface ip set interface <name> metric=# I hope MS will look into this and enable network priority work proberly /Frode

I want Win7 to automatically chose wired over wireless internet *when starting up the computer.* I believed that this could be done by "Network and sharing Center > Change adapter settings > Advanced > Advanced settings" and then change the priority of my network cards.
