Printing problems in Windows 7 and Active Directory
We have a site set up running all Windows 7. They are tied in to a Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory domain. We are running in to weird printing issues. Sometimes a couple of people will be able to print, but only one or two jobs. Then it stops working for them and nobody else can print either. Sometimes it will just print one page at a time, and a user has to turn the printer off and turn it back on for it to print the next page. Mostly though a print job will be sent to the printer, the printer goes offline and all the print jobs back up in the queue and never print, even when the printer is brought back online. We have tried setting up the printers in Print Management on the domain server, and having users connect that way. We have mapped printers on individual machines to the name of the printer and to the IP address. But none of this has fixed the issue. Event Viewer shows no errors on the local domain server or the primary domain server at our main office. There is one warning that pops up every so often over the last several weeks: Log Name: Application Source: Microsoft-Windows-User Profiles Service Date: 3/22/2011 3:39:08 PM Event ID: 1530 Task Category: None Level: Warning Keywords: User: SYSTEM Computer: LCPSAD.lcpsad.internal Description: Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. Thanks. I'll remember that for next time. We have fixed the problem. It was actually a print driver issue.
