Printing problem
I am using a windows 2008 print server and deploying the network printers through policy. I have set Point and Print restrictions to disable. The printers show up and the driver is installed for all of the computers I have on the domain. The problem is that randomly I will get a call from a user saying they print something and it goes into the queue and the printer spins up as if it is printing but then stops and nothing comes out. The job disappears from the queue as if it went to the printer. This happens to all printer models we have. Dell, Oce, HP and others. This only happens on a few machine and the only way I have found to fix it is to go into the registry and remove any key that is associated with the driver of the printer with the problem. This does not affect all computers. Just a few and it affects all users on that machine. I was hoping someone might know why this is happening.

Are you deploying an image to these machines? If so maybe something is corrupt in the image. Check your network cables and connections for these workstations, are they experiencing any other network connectivity issues?

I have deployed images to these machines but not any time recently. I am curious if it could be caused by me adding a new driver to the print server for some new printers or changing an existing driver. Also, there do not appear to be any issues with network connectivity for the machines that have this problem. Also, out of 700 machines, maybe 20-30 have experienced this issue. This didn't start happening until a few weeks after I set Point and Print Restrictions to disabled. So I'm not sure if that may have something to do with it.

Hi, According the issue, I suggest you may enable logging of printing events and repro this problem, then check the log on the printer server: To enable or disable logging of printing events 1. Open Printers and Faxes. 2. On the File menu, click Server Properties, and then click the Advanced tab. 3. To enable or disable writing spooler error events to the system log file, select or clear the Log spooler error events check box. 4. To enable or disable writing spooler warning events to the system log file, select or clear the Log spooler warning events check box. 5. To enable or disable writing spooler information events to the system log file, select or clear the Log spooler information events check box. 6. Stop and restart the spooler service, or reboot the server.
