Printing inhibited due to apparent Permissions issue
This problem occurs with Win XP SP3. The last clean install was just over 2 years ago. Till recently I. like many users, found it more convenient to run my user account with Administrative privileges. Under this configuration, printing worked as expected. But as a part of improving my overall computer security, I decided it was time to restrict my user account privileges, so I changed it to have Power User & Backup Operator privileges. As a result, I can no longer print from my user account. A print job is submitted to the spooler normally and appears in the print queue, but shortly thereafter, the job is stopped due to an unspecified error. Brief investigation indicated that the problem probably stemmed from a permissions issue. I logged into the Administrator account and verified that I could print with Administrative privileges. To make a long story short, I made a very circuitous tour through Users, Groups, Printer properties (no security tab), etc. to try to find the way to enable permissions on my User account so I could print, but have not yet found the correct approach to do this. More to the point, I've burned up scads of time on this, so it's just easier at this point to ask for expert advice on this. Any help would be appreciated.3 people need an answerI do too
