Printing in the Reader App for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1

To begin, a disclaimer:

I have been searching Google in my search for a solution, many results pointing to this forum. Unfortunately, this is to no avail. Many posts are outdated or plainly do not describe the issue at hand. If I've overlooked another post that does, in fact, describe my issues, you have my sincere apologies.

The issue:

I have several computers here in the workplace that run Windows 8, all upgraded to Windows 8.1. I do not know off-hand the edition of Windows 8.1, but there is a mixture of Basic and Pro. As the title suggests, the Reader App which is integrated into Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 is having printing issues. This app has worked previously on these computers, and after updates and restarts, I'm still unable to print. The printing method I've used is a right-click > Print, which then brings the list of installed printers. To show the correct printer, I clicked 'More' and selected the printer to bring me to the Print Options screen. I verify the settings are correct and click Print, which should send the print job to the printer to spool. Instead, I get the metro notification in the top-right corner saying something along the lines of "The print job failed to print."

Troubleshooting:

I've reinstalled the printer drivers via HP's Support > Download Drivers, and searched for the printers (LaserJet 6600 installed via wireless network, and also used as wired via USB), I've restarted to address any pending restarts for any software and to close any straggling programs that could possibly cause a conflict. I've installed Adobe Reader 11 as a patch to the issue to allow the users to continue working. I've also tested printing via other applications on the computers, such as Notepad, Adobe Reader, and our EMR software.

Conclusion:

Basically, what I am trying to ask, where do I begin to get the Reader App to begin printing once again? The users want the Reader App as opposed to Adobe Reader for their undisclosed reasons. My job is to let them have that, so please do not direct me to another patch as an answer, as I require a solution to the true issue.

Thank you for your time in reading, and thank you ahead of time for any response!

Try a workaround that some IE users need to use.  Print to XPS Document Writer (or any other virtual printer you may have such as Windows Journal or even OneNote).  Then see if whatever opens those files can print to your printer.  So, this would tell you if Reader can "print" still at all as well as give you a practical workaround until you can figure out what is wrong.

BTW in W8.1 XPS Document Writer creates .OXPS files but can be made to create conventional .xps files if necessary.

Good luck

Hi M1tch3ll,

The main issue is that the printer won`t work with the Windows Store Reader App but it can work with the other applications, right ?
If that is the issue,we can take Robert`s suggestion to have a troubleshoot.
We also can try to reinstall this application to have a check. Please configure the printer as the default.
Please also check the Event Viewer for related error messages to troubleshoot this issue.
Event Viewer\Windows Logs\Applications,System
Event Viewer\Applications and Services Logs\Microsof \Windows \Print Service
