Printing from WinXP, on Win 7
Hello, I have a desktop computer and a few days ago I installed Win 7 on it. The printer is installed onto the same computer. I have a laptop, with Win XP Professional. The problem is that I can print from the laptop, only if I put a password onto my Win 7 user account. If no password, the printer can't be installed onto WinXP. I know that generaly this is not a great disadvantage, but this is a home network and from years I used to have no password, and I'd like if this could remain so. Do somebody knows a possibility to install and use the printer in WinXP, without putting password onto the Win 7? Thank you.BalazsLaci

Hi, You may try the following steps to check the result: 1. Open Network and Sharing Center by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, and then clicking Network and Sharing Center. 2. Click the arrow button next to Printer sharing to expand the section, click Turn on printer sharing, and then click Apply. Your printer is now shared on the network. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 3. If you are using a computer connected to a workgroup, click the arrow button next to Password protected sharing to expand this section, and then check to see if password-protected sharing is turned on or off. Ensure you have turn off this option.
