Printing Issue on new Windows 7 Laptop: Font is Stretched
Just bought a refurbished HP Pavilion dv7-4083cl Entertainment Notebook with Windows 7. Whenever I print from it (to an HP OfficeJet J4540), the font is stretched out to where I can't read it. There's a bunch of spaces between every character; everything printed is very unreadable... Anyone have any thoughts? I have printed the same page on the same browser, with the same print settings, on different computers (other with XP) and it prints fine... Please help!

Thanks for the quick reply. This is via a network printer, btw... Will the HP Print Diagnostic Utility work with a Shared Network Printer? It fails on the Connectivity test for me, although Windows 7 recognizes the printer, as I can print to it (with the font stretched).

Download and run the HP Print Diagnostic Utility and see if this helps resolve the issue.Carey Frisch

Hi, It is recommended to install the latest driver to check what the result is: Software & Driver Downloads HP Officejet J4540 All-in-One Printer Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. If this issue persists, I suggest you try to uninstall the printer totally, and then re-add it to Windows 7 to check the result.
