Printer not working, Spoolsv.exe fails on boot.
I have been running Windows 7 64 bit on my computer for many months and suddenly it stopped recognizing the printer. I rebooted and now it comes up with the following message in the event log: Faulting application name: spoolsv.exe, version: 6.1.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce7b4e7 Faulting module name: ZSR.dll, version: 6.20.1625.0, time stamp: 0x462fe8cf Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x000000000002b54c Faulting process id: 0x1ee4 Faulting application start time: 0x01cc30e30a7d2f10 Faulting application path: C:\Windows\System32\spoolsv.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3\ZSR.dll Report Id: 6e7da21a-9cd6-11e0-96ec-001cc0b16e8a I have looked at the printers with the hope of reinstalling the driver (this is a laserjet 1020 which has been running great). But it acts as though the 1020 is not a printer. I installed the regular monthly maint a few days ago and wonder if this is connected. Advise on next steps would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Please try the following steps to check how it works: Clear Printer Spooler files and enable the spooler service 1. Click Start, type "Services.msc" (without the quotation marks) in the open box and click OK. 2. Double-click "Printer Spooler" in the Services list. 3. Click Stop and click OK. 4. Click Start, type "%WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers" in the open window, and delete all files in this folder. 5. Click Start, type "Services.msc" (without the quotation marks) in the open box and click OK. 6. Double-click "Printer Spooler" in the Services list. 7. Click on Start. In the Startup Type list, make sure that "Automatic" is selected and click OK. If the issue still exists, please run troubleshooting tool by the steps below: 1. Please go to Start -> Control Panel -> Devices and Printers. 2. In the list, right click on the problematic printer and then click Troubleshoot. 3. If the problem is found, click "Fix it". Also, try to use HP Print Diagnostic Utility HP LaserJet 1020 Printer to troubleshoot. Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. So far, so good. I found 4 files that indicated "shockwave flash" in the printers queue. Perhaps there was something I was trying to print that gummed up things? After deleting the files and restarting the service it seems to be OK. Time will tell if it stays fixed. I have yet to reboot and see if it comes up clean too. Thanx a lot for the sound advice.John P in Toronto

I came across this post having a similar issue and removing the files from the "%WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers" fixed it right away for me.
