Im having problems printing from my MacBook Pro using the printer attached to my Windows 7 desktop. I had it set up when I was using Windows 7 RC, but now that Ive upgraded to x64 Pro I cant do it. I kept the user name and password (password is currently removed) the same so that shouldnt be the issue. Any suggestions? Ive tried to connect to the printer from the MacBook Pro using: smb://workgroup/computername/printername smb://computername/printername

Can you print from the other computers? It seems that you need to install correct driver on the mac computer and proper configure the printer. I suggest you change the NTLM authentication level in Windows 7 as many users suggestion. If it does not help, please discuss in forum that is specially for mac. Well, I can print from the computer the printer is hooked up to. Another network computer (running Windows XP) cannot print from the printer either. Also, nothing has changed on the Mac. The only variable was the desktop's operating system (Windows 7 RC to Windows 7 Pro)

Did you change the NTLM authentication level? Also please check in Windows 7 if "File and printer sharing" is enabled. To do so, please open Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center, click Change advanced sharing settings in the left pane. Then check related settings. This issue can be caused by the printer driver on the Mac computer. I suggest that you install compatible driver and direct the printer driver to the shared printer. The Mac printer driver is just fine. When the printer is attached to the mac it prints, prior to upgrading to Windows 7 Pro, while I was using Windows 7 RC, my Mac could print from the printer attached to the desktop. I dont think this issue is with the Mac drivers, I think it is with the way the OS X 10.6.2 and Windows 7 Pro x64 are communicating. Like I said, the Windows XP computer can use the printer, and prior to upgrading to Windows 7 Pro, the Mac could also print from the printer.

I plug the printer in and it prints. Printer is an HP PSC 1510(?)xi. I know the printer works with both Windows 7 and OSX and can be networked between the two because Ive done it before, unless Windows 7 Pro is lacking something that Windows 7 RC (ultimate I guess) has in regards to printing and printer sharing. When I checked the Print and Fax settings I had both a network printer (printer I was trying to use via the Windows machine) and the printer being accessed via the usb port.

I am having the same issue: Mac Pro connecting to a Windows 7 Dell to a Canon MX310 printer. A MacBook Pro running Windows XP through Boot Camp can connect to the printer intermittently, but ever since upgrading to Windows 7 the Mac Pro (on 10.6.2) cannot connect. When the Dell was running XP, it connected without issue. I have opened up all the connection ports on the Windows 7 computer, but still no luck.

Drag the Advanced (gear) icon to the toolbar. 6. Click Done. 7. Click the Advanced icon that was added to the toolbar. 8. Choose Windows from the Type pop-up menu. 9. In the URL field, type the printer's address in one of the following formats: smb://workgroup/server/sharename smb://server/sharename Note: "workgroup" is the name of the Windows workgroup that the computer sharing the printer belongs to. "server" is the name of the computer sharing the printer (or its IP address). "sharename" is the shared Windows printer's share name. If the share name contains spaces, replace each space with "%20" (without quotation marks). Apple advice is lacking: One more step: Turn OFF password protection in Windows 7 > control panel > Networking > Advanced sharing (bottom of page). (I get a password box - but the Mac connects and can find the printer)
