Printer Settings from Windows Server 2003 Standard are not applied to Windows 7 Client
Hello Everyone, I have the following problem: I have a Windows Server 2003 Std Print Server which shares all the Network Printers to the Windows Clients in my Network. This works like a charm. The last month, i have been given the task to setup a second, virtual printer, that prints to a second output tray. The Reason behind this was to enable department 1 to collect all their prints from try 1 and department 2 from tray 2. I did the following. I installed the same printer again on the printserver. Then went to printer settings, advanced, default values and made the corresponding amendments. This worked before on other printers and i thought this would work again. Apperantly i was wrong. Clients that used printer 1 before (which was physically the same printer) can connect to printer 2, but the new default settings are not applied. I i connect the printer to a client that never used printer 1, the default settings are corretly applied. That made me think that the settings are stored somewhere on the client and obviously are not overwritten by the new printer connection. But i checked everything, double checked for the correct driver, cleaned up registry, searched the whole filesystem for the old printer name and so on, but i cant find the place where these informations are. Can you give me an advice where else i should search? i am trying to solve this Problem for almost a month now and i really dont know what i should try else, so you are basically my last hope. regards Martin
