Printer Networking Problem
Hi, I'm Mark from the Philippines. I am currently having a problem with printing to a network printer. The print job queues to the host computer but does not actually print, but when I restart the printer spooler service of the host computer, the print job from the other computer prints after 10-20 seconds. Why is this so? Both computers are running under Windows 7 Professional OEM and the printer is HP Laserjet 1022N. I recently installed Symantec 2010 Antivirus but I think it doesn't affect the print service. Although, before the 2 computers got reformatted, the network printing is smoothly operational. I disabled already the Antivirus and even the firewall of Windows 7 but still nothing. I still have to restart the print spooling service everytime I print from the network. Thank you.. Hope you guys can help me out. you can contact me through my email killua13kram@yahoo.com. Thanks again

Hi Mark, It seems that the spooler is not receiving an end-of-job sequence from the calling app. Rebooting the spooler flushes its buffers and the job prints. I have encountered this problem with HP printers. HP installs its own print processor and sets the printer to use it as default. If your software sends commands meant for Winsprint, they may not be interpreted correctly by the HP processor. Try changing the print processor by clicking the button on the Advanced tab of the printer properties window. Select Winsprint and save it. You'll have to do this from your printer server. Hope this helps. Murray
