Previous Versions tab in Windows 7 Pro
There are many UI changes I enjoy about Windows 7. However, I do not understand the change made to the Previous Versions tab. In Windows XP, shadow copies are usefully sorted by the time they were taken. See here. But in Windows 7 Professional they are now uselessly sorted by the drive, folder, or file date modified. See here. Worse yet, I don't think you can enable the Time column used in Windows XP in Windows 7 Pro. To me, the only proper way to refer to a shadow copy would be by the time it was taken. By sorting this way, I see 2 shadow copies of a file grouped by "Unspecified" both with the same Date modified. It's impossible to choose the one I want to restore. Could someone either explain to me how this change is better or show me how to get the Windows XP time column back so I can choose a shadow copy by the time it was taken? Thanks.

Hi, Based on my research, I would like to answer you that the behavior is by design and the "Previous Versions" tab cannot be chosen by time. I fully understand the inconvenience this issue has caused. By the way, for product design questions, you can share your opinions in Microsoft Feedback & Idea Center. Thanks, Novak

Do you know why previous versions are displayed this way for a share on, let's call it "server A"? click here But displayed this way for a share on "server B"? click here Both servers are running Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard SP2 The way they are listed on "server B" seems like the way they should be displaying for "server A" and resemble the way pervious versions were listed in XP. As you may have guessed snapshots on both servers are configured to be taken at 5:00 am and 12:00 pm. Could something be misconfigured or otherwise on "server A"?
