Previous Versions isn't working via SMB 2.0
All, I've got the following issue. I see empty previous versions on fileshares via SMB 2.0. SMB 2.0 is enabled on Win 2008 R2 fileserver and NetApp CIFS shares. Client computer is Win 7. If I disabled SMB 2.0 on Win 7, I can see previous versions. Also I can see previous versions from Windows XP because it can connect only via SMB 1.0. If I enabled SMB 2.0 on Win 7 computer, the previous version list is empty. I checked it on several computers and have this issue. I use the following article to enable/disable SMB 2.0 on client side: http://www.petri.co.il/how-to-disable-smb-2-on-windows-vista-or-server-2008.htm Can anyone check it ? Any ideas how to fix ? Thanks mcse^4

Which KB ? I installed SP1 yesterday and checked it. No changes ;( I see this issue as on R2 fileshares and on NetApp CIFS. ps. ONTAP had this bug, but we use fixed version 7.3.3. mcse^4

It seems it's a client side issue. Can anyone escalate this issue to Microsoft ? We don't have support for Win 7 because it's not a server OS. Thanksmcse^4

Did enabling SMB 2.0 fix your issue? I have the same problem, but enabling SBM 2.0 with the command line and Registry Keys from that article did not resolve the issue. I tried it on a Windows 7 system and another with SP1 installed. Neither fixed the issue.

No, it doesn't work via SMB 2.0. If I will disable SMB 2.0 on client side or will check it from XP, it will work. mcse^4

Here's bug info from NetApp. It's a known issue. I'll try working with SMB2 and test if that's a work around. In my environment they will not be able to upgrade/patch the NetApps for a while. Bug Detail Bug ID 373136 Title Previous-versions tab does not list entries on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Duplicate of Bug Severity 3 - Serious inconvenience Bug Status Fixed Product Data ONTAP Bug Type CIFS Description Formatted When Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 clients are used to access CIFS shares offered by Data ONTAP, and if the older SMB 1.0 protocol is being used, then the Windows Explorer "Previous Versions" tab for files or folder properties may fail to list any existing previous versions. Workaround Formatted If circumstances permit, the problem may be avoided by use of the newer SMB 2.0 protocol. Notes Formatted Before enabling the SMB 2.0 protocol, make sure that the release of Data ONTAP in use is not susceptible to the bug 356893. If I will enable SMB 2.0 on NetApp storage, I can't see previous versions. If I will disable SMB 2.0, previous versions will be available. ONTAP 7.3.3. Also previous versions don't work on fileshares on R2. It seem it's a client side issue. Can anyone report about this bug to Microsoft support ? mcse^4
