And when the Document is not stored in the Documents folder or a sub-folder of the Documents folder? Right-click somewhere in the folder (without selecting a file or folder), and then click Restore previous versions -how do you click in a folder other than on an existing file? That statement has me puzzled! How can you confirm that there was a file if your recollection of it's previous existence is hazy? How long is the previous version retained? Hi Gerry, 1. A previous versions are created by Windows Backup or copies files and folders that Windows automatically saves as part of a restore point. It doesn't matter whether it's stored in Documents or not. The link describes very clear how the previous versions work. 2. " For example, I saved a docx file in D:\TEST folder, If I want to use the Previous Versions, I open this folder, then right-click in a blank place (inside this window), choose Properties, then open Previous Versions tab. If you right-click on this file, you can restore the previous versions of this file. If you right-click somewhere inside this windows, you restore the previous of this folder, not only the file. 3.
