Prevent folder deletion
When switching apps, sometimes the focus returns to the navigation pane instead of the right pane as I was expecting & I've accidently deleted a (left) folder instead of a similarly named file/folder in the right pane. Was able to prevent this in XP by opening the drive under Win2k & setting +R as a folder attrib. This prevented deletion of that folder but allowed full access to everything else. Any way to do this directly with Win7 (or XP for that matter)? I just want to prevent deletion (not anything else) of specific folders and not propogate the restriction to child files/subfolders.

Still trying to figure this out. What I think I need is to be able to deny Delete rights to the folder unless running in elevated mode. I'm the only user and it would be inconvenient to create another not in the Admin group. Anyone have any thoughts?

Hi, Please right click the folder which you would not like to delete it and click Properties. In Security tab, please click Advanced button and switch to Effective Permissions. Then, you can select the group or user name and clear the "Delete" permission. Thanks, Novak
