Prevent AD Home Folder Drive Mapping
Hello I have a number of Windows 7 machines that connect to a 2003 Native Active Directory Domain. All users have a Home folder defined in active directory which reside on a fileserver. All these machines are on network links with very high latency & very low bandwidth. Does anyone know of a way to prevent the AD home drive from mapping at user logon, or alternativeley how to configure a threshold / timeout. Reason being logon is taking around 3 minutes if I permit access to the file server by firewall, or 8 minutes if I deny access to fileserver via firewall. I suspect the Home folder is the main problem with these long login times. I'm already familiar with the slow link detection GPO which is working well at preventing roaming profiles etc, it's just the home folder that's the issue I think. ThanksDouks

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum. Based on my understanding, if you do not want to use home folder, you could disable it in the profile. To achieve this goal, it would be configured in Windows server; I suggest you post at Windows server forum for help: Windows Server Category Also, you could refer to the following article: Ignore Active Directory Home folder Alex Zhao TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tnmff@microsoft.com.Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I do want to use home folder as defined in AD in most scenarios, it's just for a certain few devices I want to disable it. I wonder if there is a registry key that can achieve this since it's not possible with GPO, other than to change if in a TS environment. What I need is to prevent it for a standard windows logon. Thanks Douks
