Presence status not changed when using Lync 2010 Remote Call Control

Hello,

I'm currently testing the Remote Call Control functionality of Lync 2010. Call management works fine but I'm surprised that my presence status does not change to "In a Call" when the call is established.

OriginatedEvent, DeliveredEvent and EstablishedEvent are forwarded correctly to Lync Client 2010. All responses are "200 OK".

Is there something more to send to Lync Server 2010 so the status of the Lync Client gets correctly updated to "In a Call" ? Or is a plugin for the Lync Client necessary to achieve this ?

Thank you in advance,

Martin

Can we verify all steps executed correctly?

For RCC scenario a plugin is required

Yes, I went through all this configuration. I can make RCC calls and I get the popup notifying me that I'm calling someone.

So by default, Lync Client 2010 does not update presence status upon RCC call ?

Is it a Cisco or a Microsoft plugin ? How can I download / purchase it ?

Hi,

It may the issue of DNS issue between Lync Server and PBX phones system. So please double check the DNS configuration on Lync Server and PBX phones system.

More details you can refer to the link of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Remote Call Control Deployment Guide:

I also went through this document. DNS configuration is fine as Lync correctly monitors PBX and receive all events from PBX.

Does Lync Client expect a specific SIP request to update its status ? It looks like OriginatedEvent, DeliveredEvent and EstablishedEvent are not enough to change the status.

Where can I find this RCC plugin ?

Ideally must be provided by the hardware Manufactured in case of Cisco

Is the gateways you are using qualified for Lync server under Ucoip program

I'm making a proof of concept gateway which works with our in-house PBX. If the proof of concept is successful, we will make a MS qualified gateway.

So by default, Lync Client 2010 does not update presence status upon RCC call ? Or is there missing / wrong with my scenario ?

Thank you

I think there's something missing from your scenario and I don't believe you would need a plugin for this.  It's been forever since I've set up RCC with Lync 2010 however.  I know this isn't what you're looking for, but I've used this product in the past to configure Lync and RCC with third party PBXs that don't support Lync/RCC but do have a TAPI interface. http://www.estos.com/products/drivers-middleware/callcontrolgateway400.html I've been able to get a free trial before and it worked like a charm for an old 3COM phone system.  If you can get a trial it might help you compare apples to apples provided you have a TAPI driver for your PBX.

For more details on what happens behind the scenes, you might have some better luck in the MSDN dev forums: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?category=uc

Thank you for your answers.

Unfortunately, our PBX does not have a TAPI interface. Comparing the two would have helped.

I'll try on MSDN dev forum. Feel free if you still have another lead ... :)

It looks like MSDN dev forums for Lync server are not very much used.

Can someone simply log what's happening on the Lync Server (Lync Server Logging Tool) to see whether it is the PBX, the Lync Server or the Lync Client that triggers the status change and with what message ?

TRY this  Use the OCSLogger tool and capture SIP STACK and S4 tags for all flags and all level .....

I already tried and it gave me no hint. Here are the messages that are received by the Lync Server when a call is made. Something seems missing but I don't know what ...

Hi Martin,

did you solved your problem regarding of missing present status while making a call and the call is established?

l have successfully implemented a RCC-Gateway working fine with Lync 2013 and  2010.

thanks

Hi Everyone,

This case occured in one user in our environment. I thought that it related with group policy or user profile

But I removed his Lync account and created again. Issue solved.

Presence changed as "in a call"  while call was replied.

regards

Alper
