Preferred x Duplicate Address
After an IPconfig I noticed that the IP address has gotten a label of "Preferred" or "Duplicate". Follows the output of two IPconfigs executed on two diferent machines: Ethernet adapter XXXXXX: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Ethernet Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 1E-FA-AD-1C-93-D4 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 122.237.32.135(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Ethernet adapter XXXXXX: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Ethernet Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 2E-BA-AC-1A-F9-F4 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 122.237.32.135(Duplicate) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Note: I have put two Windows 2008 R2 virtual machines with the same Ip address configured and the result was: The first one has gotten the status of (Preferred) and the second has gotten the status of (Duplicate). I believe that there is relation. Someone know if is it some new feature? Thanks.
