Powershell cmdlets don't work remotely in Windows 7?
I have made this topic under Windows 7 Networking but I wanted to make a more clear and concise version here with a bit more detail and a shorter version content wise. In every windows 7 version (and both x86 and x64) that is not Windows 7 Ultimate, as soon as the OS is installed and Firewall is disabled and Remote Desktop enabled, pinging works every which way commands like: Clear-EventLog -Logname Application -Computername 192.168.x.x (or real computer name) Give the following error: http://i47.tinypic.com/28k7pex.jpg This is on virtual machines as well as physical machines. On fresh installs as well as after all the latest updates. That command in the image was run from the actual machine that it is trying to remote to in the image but the command still fails. If you put the real computer name it works locally but not remotely, so if that machine was called Win7Prox64 and I ran the command with -Computername Win7Prox64 it would work, but not with any other computer on the network's name, and definitely not with their IPs. On another note, the computers I can not remote into with the Cmdlets, can remote into other machines that do work with cmdlets.

Hi, Regarding PowerShell Remoting and the command Clear-EventLog, I would like to share the following with you for your reference: Windows PowerShell Remoting Work Remotely with Windows PowerShell without using Remoting or WinRM Clear-EventLog Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
