Power Plan
Why Windows 7 doesn't change the power plan automatically when we plug or unplug the charger?

that might be a function (or malfunction) of the power management driver on your pc. might want to make sure that you've got the latest from either windows update or your pc vendor's support website. vista drivers may need to be installed in compatibility mode if there is a windows version mismatch warning upon an install attempt. hth. * If you feel your question was answered helpfully, please mark the reply as the Answer, so others can find it. * If you are helped by an answer to another member's q-n-a, please vote for the thread as Helpful.

i understand, but it's the driver that communicates the hardware state (plugged in or battery) to the high-level software layer (windows). that's why i suggested checking the power management driver first. sorry i can't offer any more... * If you feel your question was answered helpfully, please mark the reply as the Answer, so others can find it. * If you are helped by an answer to another member's q-n-a, please vote for the thread as Helpful.

Each power plan has settings for both unplugged and plugged in that you can easily change in the power settings.-Nick
