Port conflict installing XAMP Apache from ApacheFriends.org

I just purchased a Dell Inspiron 17R running Windows 8.1 64bit.  I am attempting to set up a development environment for WordPress and have encountered an ABEND attempting to start the server as follows:

Port 80 in use by "C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" with PID 820!  Apache WILL NOT start without the configured ports free! You need to uninstall/disable/reconfigure the blocking application or reconfigure the Control Panel to listen on a different port

Problem detected! Port 443 in use by "C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" with PIC 820!  Apache WILL NOT start without the configured ports free! You need to uninstall/disable/reconfigure the blocking application or reconfigure the Control Panel to listen on a different port.

I need Skype because I travel. Can you give me sufficient instructions to resolve this conflict?  If not can you refer me to someone who cam?

Configure Apache to use different ports. I have done this on my dev server that has IIS and Apache running. For example, IIS uses port 80 and Apache uses port 8080.

You can change this in XAMPP\Apache\conf\httpd.conf.
