Port Forwarding for router failed
I have two installations of Windows 7 and one of Windows XP working with and HP MediaSmart Server. The MediaServer has WHS Power Pack 3 beta installed. I only have a problem connecting my one Windows 7 laptop (IBM W500) with the WHS where I get a "Port Forwarding for router failed" error message. However, it doesn't appear to be consistent. There are times the connection appears to be working fine. The big difference I've noticed between when it is working and when it is not is that when I ping the WHS server by name, it will respond with the correct IP when it is working and responds with an IP totally outside of my network when it is not ... but does not get a response. In addition, there is a difference in that it appends the router name to the server name (i.e. DataServer). Below is captured from my Command Prompt window:Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7100]Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. C:\Users\Jeff>ping DataServer Pinging DataServer.WRVS4400N [63.251.179.56] with 32 bytes of data:Request timed out.Request timed out.Request timed out.Request timed out. Ping statistics for 63.251.179.56: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss), C:\Users\Jeff>As you can tell by the above, my router is a Linksys WRVS4400N. I do have UPnP enabled. I have a static IP set up on the WHS and have defined port forwarding for ports 80, 443, and 4125 to go to the WHS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a similar problem, though I'm unable to get through the console as well. The outside ip I get is 63.251.179.56. have you been able to fix this?

Hiya, Sorry to bump a five month old post but I came across this while looking for alternative firmwares for the WRVS4400N; The problem you are encountering is with the firmware of the router, specifically the IPS function. With the intrusion protection enabled you already noticed that the performance drops down to 20Mbps (of the potential 800Mbps the WAN port can handle, per Cisco's specification) Now the nasty little sideeffect (read: bug) of disabling IPS to get your full throughput is that your portforwarding stops working. Hope that helps.
