Port Data Capture
How can I capture the data coming into COM 3 in Windows 7 Ultimate x64? The data is coming from an instrument connected via RS232 /USB. Thanks.

Well this is very disheartening. It really seems like yet another Microsoft scam to steal more money from We the Sheeple. There is zero legitimate excuse for blocking access to our port data other than they don't want us to know that every time we search our LOCAL drive it hits a server in REDMOND, WA. What else are they perpetuating? Giving the federalies a link into our drives? That was in the news last week. Just more reason to invest in the path to getting rid of Microsoft. DOS needs to come back.

What? Are these two posts related? How does COM3 connect to the Internet? I think you are referring to articles about advertisers profiling you and tracking you via third part add on programs. Any TCP/IP traffic can easily be discovered AND blocked with a decent router/firewall or even a program like Zone Alert. Beside, it's the Romulans and Klingons we have to worry about, not MS. Live long and prosper. p.s. DOS is from Microsoft.Miguel Fra / Falcon ITS Computer & Network Support, Miami, FL Visit our Knowledgebase Sharepoint Site

There's a material difference between opening & closing ports and monitoring port data. Feel free to play with you alien monsters. I have plenty to keep me busy aside from fighting another junk operating system geared towards 12 year old girls and grandparents.
