Pop up every time when certain Application is started.
Hello, I have a customer, which has one of our applications installed on their server. Every time when he starts the .exe from the Sharepath (lets say x:\installedSW\test.exe), it appears a security warning: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software? Name: test.exe Publisher: unknown publisher type: Application From: x:\installedSW Run Cancel X Always aks before opening this file This file does not have a valid digital signature that verifies its publisher. you should only run software from publishers you trust -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Question: Could it be that this issue is on the application side or appears this popup because of a configuration on windows? As I see this, this should be a configuration problem. My solutions: - deactivate UAC (customer says that it's already deactivated) - uncheck box "Always ask before opening this file" (doesn't work, appears every time)

This exact same problem has been annoying the shoes off some of our clients as well. All .exe files that are a few years old and do not adhere to the latest security policy (software developer authenticated by 3rd party authentication organisation) are suffering from this problem. Solution appears to involve a setting in Internet Explorer. Which is a bit confusing - unless Internet Explorer must now be considered as part of the Microsoft Operating System. Is this the case?? Could someone from MS respond to this? What do people do who have not installed Internet Explorer?????? On our Client's machines running Windows 7, the only way we have found to get rid of this annoyance is by: Open Internet Explorer | Tools | Internet Options | Security Select Local Intranet Set the security Settings for Local Intranet to "Medium Low" Select | Sites Click Advanced Now add the server as: \\Servername\ If the .exe file(s) reside on a local machine called for example BoB, then instead write: file://BoB The "Require Server Verification" tick box does not require to be ticked.

Hi, Based on my understanding, these security warnings are for preventing your system from some risk. May I know if the error message appears no matter which application you open? If the error appears just when running this application, I suspect this is related to the specific application and I suggest you check how the application is designed; for further help on this, you could post to MSDN forum: MSDN Forum If you want to ignore this message, you could try the following steps: You can turn off all of these messages by doing as follows: 1. Open Internet Explorer. 2. Go to Tools -> Internet options. 3. Click on Security tab. 4. Click on custom level button. 5. Enable “Launching applications and unsafe files”. Hope it helps.
