Please help, I really need Computer to function.
Numerous Thefts have left me with two Towers I found at Trash, I got both working but they have Windows XP Pro and have a Company Name on Liscense. My Dell Harddrive was left behind but damaged, they stole a Case with all my Disks, including the installed Windows XP Home Edition, a total of about 80 Disks. I am disabled and Mobility Issues make my Computer a Lifeline for me.I have the Original Packaging with Product Key from my Home Edition, so is it possible to get a copy of CD and install it on these Computer with the PRO. I cannot afford to purchase anything new now, so please any Advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated.1 person needs an answerI do too

Your post is a bit hard to untangle. If you are saying that you had a *retail* copy of XP Home (one you bought yourself at the store) but have lost the disc, you can contact Microsoft to replace it. If the copy of XP Home came with your Dell, then it isn't retail and the OEM license is not transferable to a different computer. Under normal circumstances you would contact Dell for replacement *BUT* Dell installation media will only install on Dell motherboards so this will do you no good with the non-Dell rescued-from-trash computer. If the latter is your situation and you can't afford to purchase XP (and you would need a retail copy and to do a clean install), then put one of the free Linux distros on the rescued-from-trash computer(s). Ubuntu is very popular and newbie-friendly.For replacement of *RETAIL* Microsoft products:To request replacement hardware or software, contact the Microsoft Supplemental Parts team. You must be in possession of the product (if it is damaged or defective) and be able to provide proof of purchase. The customer service representative will advise you of any replacement costs or shipping and handling fees that may be charged. If a product is no longer under warranty, the replacement item may no longer be available. In the United States and Canada, you can reach the Microsoft Supplemental Parts team at the contact numbers that are listed here:United States: (800) 360-7561, Monday through Friday, 5:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
