Pinning Excel Documents To The Excel Icon In The Taskbar
After installing software I am unable to pin an Excel document to the Excel icon in the taskbar. A similar problem with pinning folders to the WE icon on the taskbar was resolved but only by the renaming solution that appears on this page http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproui/thread/4767168e-5659-4412-8f29-862a0786d1d7/v- the other suggested solutions made no difference. I have tried changing the taskbar properties as well in this case - did not help. MS Word never encountered the problem, and I haven't checked the others yet.

Hi, Before going any further, I would like to verify what kind of software you installed before this issue occurred? Have you tried to uninstall it to test the issue? Meanwhile, I suggest you try the following: 1. Check the registry key. (Note: Please refer to this knowledge base (KB) article to back up the registry key.) Type regedit (without quotation marks) in the Search bar and press Enter. Check whether the following key " TaskbarNoPinnedList " listed in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer If so, delete this key and restart the system to check the result. 2. Test the issue in Clean Boot mode 3. Resetting the Jump Lists (Note: This will reset them all to be empty) 1 - Copy this entire next line: %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations 2 - Click Start, then paste it into the Search box and hit enter. 3 - Delete all the files in that folder. As a best practice, just send them to your recycle bin so that you can restore them if you need to. 4 - Try pinning an item again. You can also refer to the following KB: Program icons that are pinned to the taskbar may be missing or be displayed incorrectly on Windows 7-based computers http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2461919 Hope this helps.
