Hi, i am experiencing ping spikes whilst I am playing online games and I am looking for any assistance in solving this problem.I usually play on severs with a ping of less than 125, but randomly whilst i am mid-game my ping will begin to spike to around 500-600 which lasts for around 2 minutes then it falls back to down to my original ping.This problem only occurs in Windows 7. My router is a Netgear DG834Gv2.

It's likely that you are seeing some problem with your Firewall security settings. Your router can set the machine you use for games in the "DMZ", which disables all that. The Windows Firewall can disable things like 'edge transversal' for inbound packets. It would depend on the game's need for inbound data, like a ping.Rating posts helps other users Mark L. I tried altering theWindows Firewall "edge transversal" settings for inbound packets from "blockedge transversal" to"allow edge transversal", that didn't affect the problem.As for setting up a DMZ, i use only one computer for everything; after readingthisi am thinking of using port forwarding.

So, i'm going to guess that AVG Anti-virus is the issue here. So I am going to uninstall it and try another Anti-virus.
