Physical Installed memory 6GB Bios and system properties only show 5 gb with 4.75 being used
Today I just installed 4 gig stick into my laptop computer, the other stick is 2 gig of ram. But the Bios and the sys prop. says that I only have 5 gig installed. I am posting this bc I don't have much time at the moment to dig into this a little deeper. As of right now I am unsure of how much if any was given to the video functions, but I can say that I just have stock video (integrated video chip on motherboard). So I don't think that this is an issue. What else could be causing this? As I really need as much as I can get. Also this is a Windows 7 X64 os. Thanks for any help that is given!

You state that the BIOS only reports 5GB, then your issue has absolutely NOTHING to do with Windows 7! The BIOS is reporting hardware information BEFORE Windows 7 is booted up. The amount reported may be a result of a limitation of your hardware and/or the programming of the BIOS. If you want to find out more about the issue, then you need to contact the Technical Support for your laptop. There is absolutely NOTHING Windows 7 can do to change how the system BIOS reports the amount of memory! Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
