Person called claiming to be support and took control of my computer
Original title: security I was contacted by "windows support" with regard to many error messages being received by them from my computer. The rep. then went through several stages with me getting into my management files and showing me these errors. I was then asked to type in the website ww.ammyy.com on explorer where it was then possible for him to take controll of my pc. is this legitimate or has my pc been hacked into. It ended by me being told to upgrade my security to Mcaafee. I am concerned that my details are now unsafe. Any advice welcome please

This type of call are well-known for fraud and they are FAKE. I suggest to have a look at:http://cyberdefend.wordpress.com/2010/05/14/hello-i-am-from-microsoft/You could run full system scan with:http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htmTo see if your PC is safe or not.

You havebeen scammed. My recommendation to do both the following immediately: 1. Reinstall Windows cleanly. 2. Change your e-mail password and any other user-ids and passwords(banking, credit cards, Amazon.com, etc.) that you use on thecomputer. Ken Blake (MS MVP)
