Persistent Chat Outside Access

Hi all I recently added Persistent chat service to our Lync 2013 Single server. Now I have several questions and I would appreciate if you could provide the answer.

- Now that I changed topology by adding Chat service, do I need to export configuration and import it to Edge server?

- If yes, do I need to go through all steps in lync deployment wizard  on Edge server?

- Do I need to create ARR / TMG rules to reroute traffic meant for Chat server?

Thanks.

1) no, not if replication is working properly and TPC/4443 is open from your front end to your edge. Run Get-CsManagementStoreReplicationStatus to check. If it's not replicating, then that's something you'd be any to fix. Short term exporting and importing is a workaround.

2) no in any case.

3) hope, it should just work.

Hi Anthony, thank you very much for your answer. When I run cmdlet I get Up to Date : True.

PS C:\Windows\system32> Get-CsManagementStoreReplicationStatus

UpToDate           : True
ReplicaFqdn        : LyncFE.domain.local
LastStatusReport   : 02.07.2015 14:35:23

UpToDate           : True
ReplicaFqdn        : LyncEdge.domain.local

I have now another hopefully small issue. I've updated Lync 2013 Server and now everything seems to be working but still I have red exclamation mark over the Lync icon saying "Server issues are affecting calls. Try signing in again". I tried this several times but still no solution. Any suggestion?

For the second question, you should start a new thread.  That way you'll get more eyes on it, but that's typically due to a lack of an internal DNS record for your internal edge pool FQDN, or sometimes it's the certificate acting up.
