Permissions to access index of network folder
I am trying to add a folder from a Windows Vista network share to a library. I can do this fine in my administrator account that has NTFS permissions set to full control on the network folder. I am unable to do this, however, for a standard user. The network folder has the permission "Everyone" having read access only. I get the error: "This network location can't be included because it is not indexed." The Vista computer is indexing the folder and it doesn't complain about this in my administrator account. Are there permissions that need to be set somewhere to allow the standard user account to access this index information? Help suggests I make the folder available offline, but I don't want to have to do this because it would be 30GB or more that I only want to have to store on the networked computer.

Hi Jeff,You issue can occur if the lndex setting in your Windows Vista computer is not correct. You can try to rebuild Index in Vista using the following steps to troubleshooting your issue.1. Go to the Control Panel.2. Select System and Maintenance.3. Select Indexing Options.4. Click the Advanced button.5. When the UAC prompt appears, click Continue.6. Under the Troubleshooting section, click the Rebuild button.7. Click OK when the confirmation box appears.8. Click the Close button to close the Index Options window. After that, you can test if you can add the network folder to the library. If you still get the error while adding it to the library, and you don't want to make the folder Offline, you can try the Win7 Library Tool to fix your issue, you can refer to this useful link:http://zornsoftware.talsit.info/?p=3I hope this can help you.Good luck!
