Permissions for Win7pro
I hope this is in the right forum. I have a folder in the the C: drive called dwg. I use AutoCad 2010 to work out of c:\dwg folder. When trying to save the file it says, "Unable to save to drawing c:\dwg drawing saved to c:\anotherdirectory\filename.tmp I'm wondering if Windows 7 doesn't want anything saved in the C: drive? I'm just guessing. Please advise and thanks.

with UAC turned on, you standard user rights, instaed of admin rights. So you can't write to C:. Check that your user has writing permissions inside the folder where you want to store the data. You can change the permission for the folder, or run AutoCad 2010 as administrator.Arthur Xie - MSFT

I found this: http://www.blogsdna.com/2159/how-to-take-ownership-grant-permissions-to-access-files-folder-in-windows-7.htm Windows 7 has implemented addition security mechanism to prevent accidental or intentional file or folder modification by not allowing users other then owner of file or folder to access it. Hence in case if you need to access, modify or delete such files or folder you need to take ownership first then assign rights or permission to respective users. Here is Guide on How to take Ownership and Grant Permission in Window 7.

I figured it out. It was CA ITM 8.1 antivirus. If I disable it I can save my .dwg If I enable it I am unable to save my .dwg They do have a filter option in the settings and I think I can exclude that c:\dwg directory while keeping the antivirus running. Can someone put solved on the subject title for me? Thanks to all who helped.
