Peristent issue with Win 7 backup, related to Media Center?!
Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Users\Mcx1-JIMMY-PC\Contacts. Error:(The system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002))Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Users\Mcx1-JIMMY-PC\Searches. Error:(The system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002))Is it ok to delete these folders so I don't get this error during Windows backup? It says the backup is ok but I would prefer no errors. Why can't microsoft get the whole backup thing right anyway? I don't really even trust the MS backup, but I keep coming back expecting it to have improved from the last time. There is no option to put the backup into a specific folder, and it doesn't say anything about whether or not it is doing things incrementally the second time around. Why bother?jfJimmy Fallon Computer Assistance www.mainstreetchatham.com

That Mcx1 is related to an XBOX Extender. I wouldn't delete those folders.

Hi Jimmy,Just came across your thread. This is because the media center user that is created, Mcx1-JIMMY-PC in your case, does not have Contacts and Searches directories. Backup expects these to be present. As a workaround, please do the following:1. Open backup and restore center2. Click on Change settings3. Select the same destination and on the next page, choose 'Let me choose'.4. In the data files section, expand Mcx1-JIMMY-PC's libraries and then expand Additional locations.5. Uncheck Contacts and Searches6. Proceed and save settings.Rerun backup and it should work fine. Thanks,Sneha[MSFT]
