Please bear with me while I ask a couple of "stupid" questions. I do not have access to a "clean computer." So ... I was wondering if running my malware software, in safe mode, in a diagnostic capacity only, would alert me to a problem that wouldn't show up when running a full system scan in the normal fashion? I am using Norton Internet Security 2009, which I'm aware you do not recommend. If so, could you give me a beginner's course on navigating to the appropriate file to run a full system scan in safe mode? Thanks for your response.

Hopefully your computer is not too infected and will allow you to get to the anti-malware fighting sites so you can get the tools you need. Do the preparatory work listed at the link I gave you and start by running Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware in regular mode. You may need to run it again in full scan mode in Safe Mode but start in Regular Mode if possible. If not possible, then run the scan in Safe Mode and remove the malware from there.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

The Malwarebytes research team has determined that AntiMalware is a fake anti-malware application. These so-called "rogues" use intentional false positives to convince users that their systems have been compromised. Then they try to sell you their software, claiming it will remove these threats. In extreme cases the false threats are actually the very trojans that advertise or even directly install the rogue. You are strongly advised to follow our removal instructions below.

Yes? I don't understand your post. MBAM is a well-respected antispyware program that has been around for quite a while. It is not a rogue. I'm not sure if you're making a comment about what you're infected with or what.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

My previous post was copied and pasted from the site you recommended in your first response. http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_MalwareI paged down and clicked the following:http://tinyurl.com/5xrpftPage down to the "Removal Instructions for AntiMalware"http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=34664The quote is from the first paragraph. I was looking for the AntiMalware download site and ended up here because I thought it might be a guide for using the malware software you recommended. Sorry I neglected to be more specific in my last post. How do you feel about Microsoft Security Essentials?

I think I see. AntiMalware is a rogue and that's what you're infected with. It's common for The Bad Guys to name their evil software something similar to a legitimate removal tool. They catch even more people that way. Obviously you don't want to install it! MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware ("MBAM") is the legitimate removal tool. If you are looking for a guide to use MBAM, look here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
