Performance monitor % Idle Time
Have a laptop computer that runs processes very slowly. The performance monitor shows the % Idle time ranging between 0 and 40% with 0 being displayed the majority of the time. It appears the HD is constantly trying to do something but I can't see what. Is there a way to tell what's going on so we can fix this problem? And is my logic correct that this is a bad thing to have 0% idle time?

Hi, I would recommend you to perform the steps mentioned below and check if it helps: 1.Temporarily disable all the third party security programs and boot in Clean Boot and Safe Mode to test the issue. 2. Check the process consumption in Task Manager. 3. Check your hard disk for errors.Tracy Cai TechNet Community Support

If you have 0% "idle" time then your computer is always doing something ie processing. Can we get more info on the system specs and OS. You may be ram starved, have a configuration issue, malware, etc.MS-MVP 2010, 2011, 2012 Sysnative.com Team ZigZag
