Performanc & maintenance/Power Options: allowing personal computer to activate fully out of standby. The hardware mouse setting to allow are checked. The upgraded version of Microsoft settings are only allowing a partial reactivation. I can't shut down manually with the power button, I have to turn off the electrical power source. I have tested all power options manually and through out the shut down options. The only issue at this time is system does not full restoring to my last activity.

Hi Alisa7212,Did you make any software or hardware changes on the machine prior to this issue?Let’s follow these methods and check if it helps.Method 1You may boot the computer into ‘safemode’ and check if the issue persists. It will start Windows XP with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not run in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed, follow the steps to boot the computer in safe mode:a. Restart the computer.b. Start tapping F8 key.c. You will get advanced boot option window.d. Select the option “Safe mode”.For more information, refer this link:A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XPMethod 2a) Click Start > Run, type ‘cmd’ in the open box.b) Right click on ‘cmd.exe’ and select ‘Run as administrator’.c) In the command prompt, type ‘shutdown /s’ & click enter key.d) Close the command prompt & check if the computer is shutting down correctly.Method 3 You may also contact your computer manufacturer to update the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) and the chipset drivers & check if the issue persists.Note: Modifying BIOS/ chipset incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/chipset can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.Hope the information helps.
