Perfect profile gone when logging into new domain
On a new Windows 7 machine, I set up all my computer, settings, apps, etc., perfectly. I was joined to one domain (olddomain.local) and the office switched to a new domain today (newdomain.local) and I got a new "initialized" user profile. Same user name as before, just a new domain. How do I get all the old profile settings for the new user (which are all local to this machine) or tell the system to use that old profile for this new domain? Thanks,Will

It is impossible. Because the identities are completely different. Your full user name should be user.olddomain.local (in old domain) and user.newdomain.local (in new domain).Arthur Xie - MSFT

Arthur Xie - MSFT Well Arthur, I guess sometimes the impossible can be done!!I found two tools that would assist in this problem. The Windows 7 AIK and the Windows Easy Transfer Tool. I used the Easy Transfer Tool to successfully copy the original configuration to a USB drive (user.olddomain.local) and then logged onto the user.newdomain.local and transferred the settings. Other than a few minor tweaks I was all set with my new profile. Thanks for trying anyway,Will
