I would like to store personal information like passwords and bank account numbers on my computer. If I create a password protected account to do this, how secure is that information from possible hackers or viruses designed to detect that information? hi piazink, your request for to keep passwords and bank information on your pc and how secure is that to do, well it's about as secure as given the same details to someone you have known for about six months and waiting to see if they will use the details to comit fraud. in other words it MIGHT be safe if you take the correct percautions, however is it really worth the risk. but if you must then i would make sure that you encrypt all data that you are saving (dont make it obvious that it is bank/password details) install Microsoft secruity essentials, internet explorer 8, windows 7 ultimate (for drive encrption) and a anti-keylogger program like keyscrambler and also make sure that you have a very secure password on your pc. use the microsoft password checker tool to test how strong it is. and finally after you install all of the stated then purchase a very good external hard drive with high encryption levels and use this for your data and disconect it when not in use and do not use in wireless mode. personally for this sort of information the pen is mightyer than the sword. hope this helps yoursASHLEY NO:1 FAN OF MICROSOFT AND WINDOWS 7 dont forget if you mark answer as correct, vote for it as helpful to help other user's find a solution quicker
