Password protected share still accessible by anyone. Not asking for user/password.
Hi everyone! I have 2 laptops connected through a workgroup named CASA (i'm not using a homegroup). The settings are the following: LAPTOP1: username: USER1 Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit Network discovery is on file and printer sharing is on public folder sharing is on encryption using 40- or 56-bit encryption password protected sharing is on LAPTOP2: username: USER2 windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit all the other settings are the same as on LAPTOP1 I've got a shared folder named "music" in drive D: on LAPTOP1. I clicked on "Share with" and selected a user/administrator on that computer (USER1) with Read/write permissions. The thing is that I'm still able to access this shared folder logged on LAPTOP2 with a username "USER2" (which is also an administrator) which I haven't created on LAPTOP1 although I have password protected sharing activated. I even tried removing all permissions on advanced sharing by removing the "Everyone" and "Administrators" group and selecting only the "USER1", but USER2 on LAPTOP2 stil can have full access to the shared folder on LAPTOP1. It doesn't even asks for credentials. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

Hi, It seemed that the credential has been stored. Please go to Credential Manager and remove the records under Windows Credentials. If the issue persists, please check if guest account is enable on laptop1. If so, please disable it. You can also create another shared folder with the same permission and use different users for testing. Best Regards, NikiPlease remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
