Hii m using windows 2003 standard addition as domain server in my workplace and there are 7other pc attached with it which has Vista standard running on it now my problem is that at first time when I have set Username and password that all working well as system login id and password and as network login id and password but now when I changed password for some id. It still take old password for login in vista and for the network access new ones.what is the problem with that? Is there any caching problem? What is the solution for that? There is one other PC which has XP on it attached with the server. It has the same problem and interestingly when I have to access network from that I instead of [domain name]/[user name] and [password ]It take [domain server Machine name]/[username] and [password] and let me access but dont allow me as using domain name and raise the popup that you can login twice to same domainwhat should I do with this situation?any expert or experienced guys helpcan anybody assume what are the possible solutions of this problemRegards Selena

Hi, From your post, I understand that there is a Windows 2003 domain environment. You find that you have to logon the Windows Vista machine with the old password after you have changed the password. Let me know if there is anything I misunderstood. Before we go further, I would like to confirm the following information with you: 1. Have the Windows Vista machines joined the domain? 2. What Edition of Windows Vista is running on the machines? Home Premium or Enterprise or others? 3. How many domain controllers are there in this domain? 4. Are the share folders on the Windows 2003 domain controller? 5. How did you change the password for the domain user account? Meanwhile, please perform the following steps to export the environment variables for analyzing: 1. On a Windows Vista machine, open the Command Prompt, type set > var.txt and press Enter. 2. Open the file var.txt and copy the content to here. I look forward to your reply.

First thanks for being interested in my problem and your positive gestureI changed the password as you stated above on one vista pc and it gave me entry as new password that time but then after I restarted my computer and it do not allow as new password so I login as old password on that pc and offshore as password is not changed on particular that pc so it is definitely not changed for the other ones And I want solution like if I changed the password from the server it should be reflected to all it connected pcs , so I not have to change that password from each and every pcWhat do you think? What will be the solution for this kind of problem?

Hi.Now on today morning after restarting the server machine it takes the effect and my problem is solved but not complete and I got a new problemI have changed previously CachedLogonsCount=0 According to this article so solve my problem http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q172931/ Now not a single account for that domain is worked for login on one of PC that have vista business on it.It show following error -- The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship -But local id/password for that pc is working and after login it I can access network by the new password. Now is there any way to reflect all id and password on that vista pc ?In XP PC for accessing the shared data on network it still take [Server Machine Name]/[password] instead of [ Domain Name]/[Password]RegardsSelena

Hi, This issue is really strange. To better understand the issue, I suggest enabling the audit policies: 1. On the Domain Controller, open the Active Directory Users and Computers panel (dsa.msc). 2. Right click on Domain_name.com, select Properties, select the Group Policy tab, click New to create a new GPO, and click Edit to open the GPO. 3. In Group Policy Object Editor, expand Computer Configuration\ Windows Settings\ Security Settings\ Local Policies, click Audit Policies, and enable all the audit polices (both success and failure). 4. Run gpupdate /force on both the Windows Vista machine and Domain Controller to apply the policy. 5. And then, please reproduce the issue, and collect the following information:1) Logon the Windows Vista machine with the Administrator account and the new password, and mark down the time when you receive the error message.2) Logon with the old password.3) Access the share folder (with the old password), and mark down the (system) time when you receive the error message.4) Access the share folder with the new password, and mark down the (system) time.5) After that, please export the system and security logs from the event viewer on the Windows Vista machine, file server and DC.6) Additionally, on the Windows Vista machine, please type the command net user /domain administrator in Command Prompt and export the result to me. 6. After that, please zip the above information and sent to the following space:https://sftasia.one.microsoft.com/choosetransfer.aspx?key=4e0111d8-97a3-4603-aeee-e25ef1e28896Password: sQyT9VrJJR$ I look forward to your reply.
