Password Protected Sharing
I'm interested to know what key exchange and data encryption algorithms are used for Password Protected Sharing - sharing between two Windows 7 computers in a workgroup (a SOHO network without a central server).Thank you.

Hi, Regarding password protected sharing, I would like to share the following with you: Troubleshoot file and printer sharing In this article, we can see: Password protected sharing is on by default for computers on workgroups. When password protected sharing is enabled, people using other computers on your network can't access your shared folders or printers unless they have a user account on your computer. I think this means, when you want to access a share folder of a computer which has password protected sharing enabled, a credential is needed; and you should have a user account on the target computer to pass the authentication. Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT

I do know how Password Protected Sharing works on the application level. What I'm interested to know is what specific CRYPTOGRAPHIC ALGORITHMS are used for key exchange (e.g. clear text, Diffie-Hellman etc.) and data encryption (e.g. 3DES, AES, proprietary, etc.).I hope you'll be able to help me.Kind regards,Veselin Markovi
