Password Policy issue

I don't know if this question has been answered or not but it is driving me crazy!

I am trying to remove the password requirement to login to my PC. I followed all the guides online that sent me to sign-in option and then password policy and then hit change, but the change button is greyed out...

So then i tried the "netplwiz" option to uncheck the box that required a password to login, but the box above the "users for this computer" section isn't even there on my window...

I've set my only Microsoft account I have on the computer to the administrators group and that still didn't help.

I'm running a clean and legal version of windows 8.1 on my Asus tower computer.

I am sure i am missing something but I can't seem to figure it out.

Hello,

Is your system is a part of domain, if yes then that option is missing.

Hi,

You meant auto logon option is missing in User Account Control. isn't it?

For this phenomenon, it is most probably caused by current system was joined domain environment. You can set auto logon by change registry. Access to the link below for more details:

It does not look like I am part of a domain. the system information just says I am in a work group. Upon following the steps above from Roger's link, it won't work because there is no defaultdomainname for me to change (step3). Any other thoughts?

Hi,

Just try in another account, same like yours. If not works go to control panel directly and clear the password caches.

Since you have mentioned about Password policy you have to check what policy applying on your computer those steps are

type "rsop.msc" or "gpresult" to generate the applying policy list and move your computer object from OU accordingly.

Hi,

Based on my test, the Registry key AutoAdminLogon used to control the option:

User must enter a user name and password to use this computer

Please check the registry key and set it value to 1.
