Palm Treo 755P in Win 7 64 bit
I have the phone with a dock I cannot install the driver for it says it is incompatible went to the palm website and said due to the fact of a problem within the 64 bit archatechture I would have to use it with bluetooth was wondering is there or would you know of a work around for this in win 7 as connecting through USB instead of bluetooth this would help alot of business users and clients of mine that have 64 bit machines

Hi, Thank you for posting. I would like to let you know that actually device driver and utility are bridges between the operating system and the hardware device. Also, the device drivers or utilities are generally designed and tested by the hardware manufacturers. In other words, it is hardware manufacturers responsibility to design, develop, test, and support their device drivers or utilities. For example, as we know, when a new operating system is released, many hardware manufacturers will also publish their upgraded device drivers via their websites. Meanwhile, I also noticed that Palm said 64-bit Windows Vista is not supported for USB synchronization. from Palm Desktop 6.2 and HotSync Manager (Windows). Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. Considering that the issue should be related to the hardware, I would like to still recommend you to contact Palm. I was able to get my Palm 755p to sync with Windows 7 October 22 release after much fooling around. Here is what I did in case it helps someone else:First, you cannot sync with the USB cable that you used to use. Bluetooth sync only. End of story. No whining.I used an Iomega GBU 421 which as a tiny USB device that plugs into a USB port. It costs about $20.I downloaded the newWindows 7 drivers from the IOMEGA website for the GBU 421.I installed the Software that came with my Palm 755p Palm desktop 4.2 P/N 400-10440-00.I did not download the new version from the Palm website. I used the old version that came with my phone. I tried the new version and it did not work.I think it is sneaking in the back door as a 32 bit app. You may have to go to Control Panel and set up a new 32 bit mail profile but you will be prompted and I don't think that it does anything, really - it just gets you in the 32 bit backdoor - but what do I know ....I use Pocket Mirror from Chapura because I did before. I don't know if that is a requirement.I followed the instructions that go with installing the Palm software. I did not attempt to sync with the cable despite the warnings.I used the bluetooth software that installed with the GBU 421and the locate bluetooth device function on the Palm 755p.I used settings on the Hotsync Manager to sync by serial rather than USB or Network. At some point you find a virtual serial port and you point Hotsync to that when you set the serial port.If your phone sets up as a modem it will not work. The new version of Palm Desktop seems to make Windows7 see your 755pphone as a modem. You will have to restart after each install, bluetooth drivers, Palm Desktop, etc.Good luck!It can be done!I love Windows 7 BTW.This is my last Palm device ....

I found a fantastic page that made it so easy to do and it worked on my windows 7 64 bit machine. http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/49229_en.html It literally took 2 minutes after reading that to get it to work. I love windows 7. This too will be my last palm device.

The best solution I have found so far is to install Virtualbox (from Oracle - its free) install a guest Windows XP on it , install Palm desktop , then and set the Palm Handlheld USB to auto recognize and you will have full usb access to your palm !!!
