PROBLEM: Win7RC Windows Firewall Service does not start automatically
Whenever I reboot the machine, I found that the Windows Firewall Service does not start automatically. I can go to Administrative Tools/Services and start it and then its ok.I found 5 event log entriesover 2 days, EventID 7024, Source: Service Control Manager, with the text saying "The Windows Firewall service terminated with service-specific error The parameter is incorrect.."I also found one problem with an Outbound Rule that I made, but I cannot duplicate the error again. The rule was made to allow outbound the service 'Windows Time". But when I went to check the rule by viewing its properties, Programs and Services tab, Services Settings button, I find that the Windows Time service is no longer selected.

Isn't the Action Center supposed to notify you when the Firewall is stopped? It never notified me.

Is this forum monitored by MS QA or Developers ? It would be nice if they could post a short reply saying simply they will investigate. I may be able to search for probable causesif they could tell me what the "incorrect parameter" in the event log message refers to. Does it mean for example a faulty firewall rule ?I consider thisa serious failing, with the Firewall aborting without user notification at every reboot. But if, on the other hand, if this forum is a black hole, please direct me to the proper place where I can report bugs.

Hi, Are you using a ISA Server? If so, hope following KB can help you. The Microsoft Firewall service does not start and event ID 7024 is logged in the system event log of the computer that is running ISA Server 2006 or ISA Server 2004
